Newcastle United were dealt a double injury blow last night as Haris Vuckic and Dan Gosling sustained injuries in the 1-2 victory against Aston Villa.
This creates further problems for the club, as it is currently undergoing a poor start to the Premier League campaign. Newcastle have managed only two victories in their last 7 games.
The Magpies finished off last campaign on a high, defying expectations and managing impressive victories against the likes of Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Newcastle had one of the most consistent and effective players in their squad; the likes of Cheick
Tiote, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 were all impressive last season.
The club managed to hold off interest by other parties during the summer and secured the services of all its star players for this season. Manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew added quite a few promising youngsters to the squad, ensuring depth and balance. High expectations
were placed on the Tyneside outfit, and many had Newcastle as favourites for a top 4 finish.
However, the club was rocked by injuries to key players such as Cheick Tiote, Tim Krul, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Simpson and Ryan Taylor two weeks into the new season.
Newcastle have not been entirely convincing, and last week lost at home to Manchester United in an embarrassing 0-3 score line.
The club has been dealt another injury blow as midfielders Haris Vuckic and Dan Gosling sustained injuries last night.
The injuries came towards the end of the under-21 game, and Vuckic sustained quite a serious injury and had to be stretchered off.
Midfielder Mehdi Abied was on the score sheet for the Magpies last night, and dedicated his first goal of the campaign to Vuckic. The player said:
“I’m really, really sad for him and I wish him all the best. He doesn’t have a lot of luck – he’s had a lot of injuries before this season and I hope for him that it’s going to be better in the future. He is one of my best friends here and I wish him all
the best.”
Dan Gosling suffered an ankle injury, and has been ruled out for at least a month. Reserve team coach William Donachie was however optimistic and said:
“It’s a shame for Haris and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dan-Gosling-c9845, both getting an injury, but hopefully it’s not too bad and they won’t be out for too long. It didn’t look good, but their doctor was quite positive. But we won’t really know until tomorrow.”
