Newcastle United are waiting for an update on defender Fabricio Coloccini, who was recently ruled out of Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay.
The player is a doubt for Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paraguay-c2979, which takes place tonight, after picking up a hamstring injury during training.
The news was confirmed by the Argentinean FA in a statement which claims that the Newcastle skipper has experienced a recurrence of the same injury that kept him out for Newcastle’s first two opening games of the season.
The AFA released the following statement on their official website:
“Fabricio Coloccini has a hamstring injury in the femoral biceps of his right leg. He himself travels with the squad to continue treating with the same doctor.”
The player had been talking about Newcastle’s prospects this season before he joined the Argentina national squad.
"Of course, it's going to be harder than the last year [with Newcastle]. We have to take care of our bodies, and try to stay fit," Coloccini told the English press.
"It's far away, a 12-hour flight, but when I go to play for Argentina, I don't think about the hours. It's not a problem."
Despite the injury, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 are still hopeful that the player will recover in time, and have chosen to make him stay with the squad. National team coach Alejandro Sabella has however called up Leandro Desabato as back up for the 30-year old centre half.
This news will become a cause of worry for Newcastle manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew, who also recently lost out Haris Vuckic to an injury and is still waiting for midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote’s return to the squad.
The Magpies will face Everton at Goodison Park when the Premier League resumes next week. The match is set to take place on the 17th of September, and Pardew will hope that his captain is fit for the clash.
Everton have been in impressive form, winning their first two matches and losing the third away to West Brom. The Toffees have 6 points from 3 games, and are a force to be reckoned with at home. Newcastle and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 are both expected to push for a Champions
League spot this season, and the clash is sure to be a thriller.
