Newcastle United are reportedly interested in AS Roma forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bojan-Krkic-c7794 and are looking for a swap-deal to bring the player to the Sports Direct Arena in a part-exchange deal for full-back Davide Santon.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 striker did not have an impressive debut season with Roma, and could be on his way to Newcastle with full back Santon headed in the opposite direction.
The 21-year old forward started his career with Barcelona’s youth set up and gradually rose through the ranks and progressed to the first team. Bojan made his debut for the Catalans in 2007 and made a total of 104 appearances for them, scoring 41 goals along
the way.
The young forward had an eye for goal and was quick in attack, with many comparing him to Lionel Messi. Bojan however drifted and was unable to live up to all the expectations placed on him. In the 2010/2011 season, he was pushed down the pecking order as
Barcelona opted for a front three of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-c29582 Rodriguez.
Bojan moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 in July 2011 on a two year contract for a fee of £10 million. He has made 33 appearances for the Italian side and has scored only 3 goals.
The 21-year old clearly struggled in his first season for Roma and his wayward form could lead him out of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
Newcastle have appeared as potential suitors for the striker, but a clause in Bojan’s contract states that he can be brought back to Barcelona at any time. Roma would have to pay £22 million if they wish to retain the Spaniard for another season.
Given the costly nature of the rumoured transfer, Newcastle are expected to throw in Italian full-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Davide-Santon-c10658 in an attempt to land the Spanish forward.
Santon joined Newcastle from Italian giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan last season for £5 million and has made 24 appearances for the Magpies, helping the side achieve a fifth place finish in the league.
As of now, it remains to be seen what will happen regarding this transfer, as Davide Santon, speaking to a newspaper last week, has himself said that he feels very happy and well settled at Tyneside.
