Newcastle United have long been linked to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956, but it seems like the Magpies are about to give up on the chase as both clubs have failed to agree on a transfer fee.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew will only be feeling frustrated as the Magpies look set to miss out on the Dutch goal scorer. Pardew, who has been a long term admirer of De Jong, believes that his club may have been priced out of a move for the player.
Newcastle approached Twente with two bids of £10 million and £12 million respectively, but sources in Europe reported that FC Twente were not willing to let go of the striker for anything less than £15 million. Newcastle were unwilling to pay this amount,
and as a result, any sort of progress regarding the player’s transfer came to an abrupt end.
De Jong’s agent had earlier revealed that the striker was keen to exit Twente, and was hopeful of playing in a Newcastle jersey next season. However, it seems like De Jong will have to wait on any developments regarding the move. Reports also claim that
German club Borussia Monchengladbach are on the brink of acquiring the player’s signature as they look set to match Twente’s asking price.
Newcastle are now believed to be looking at other targets because of this situation. French midfielder Romain Amalfitano has already arrived from French side Reims and will join his compatriots http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884 as the Magpies start preparations
for the new season.
Newcastle still look set to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682, the exciting right-back from Lille who is expected to announce his future plans this week, with Newcastle looking like the most likeliest destination.
Pardew is also supposedly looking at Twente’s Brazilian born defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-c11600 as a transfer target. Twente are reportedly asking for £5 million, an amount Newcastle are gladly willing to pay. But it seems as if personal terms might prove to be a stumbling
block as the club faces confusion regarding the number of people claiming to be Douglas’s representatives.
There is also the issue where Douglas is required to stay in Holland for a prescribed period of time in order to qualify as a Dutch national and play for the national side.
There are still seven weeks to go before the transfer window closes, and Newcastle are expected to make further signings as they look to come back stronger, following season's success.
