Newcastle United have played down talks that linked their Senegalese striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 with a move to Rubin Kazan after it was learnt that the Russian club had activated the £7 million release clause in Ba’s contract.
The Senegalese centre-forward’s contract includes a release clause which can be activated up until the end of July, allowing him to leave Tyneside for a fee of £7 million. After July, the release clause will increase to £15 million.
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 claimed that Rubin Kazan were on the brink of discussing personal terms with Ba after offering the £7 million to activate the release clause.
Newcastle United have however dismissed all these rumours and said that there had been no contact with the Russian club over Ba.They are hopeful that the striker will stay with the club, especially after manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew revealed that Ba is central to
his plans for the club next season.
Ba joined the Magpies on a free transfer from last season’s relegated West Ham United. The Senegalese made an instant impact, scoring 16 Premier League goals throughout the season. The player became a hot commodity following his exploits in the league and
was reportedly chased by the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester United.
Perhaps all transfer talk regarding Ba’s departure from Tyneside was brushed aside when he himself regarded it as ‘rubbish’. Speaking to English newspapers last week, Ba said:
“What can I say?”
“The fans see me on the pitch in a Newcastle shirt – that’s my message to them. In the papers there’s been a lot of rubbish!”
“Like I said on Twitter, it’s just rumours. People talk, but what I can say is that none of the teams that have been talked about have approached me. I’m still a Newcastle United player.”
“Life is brilliant – I always have a smile on my face. That’s how I am. Football is my http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, but it’s also a lot of fun for me. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t do it. I enjoy putting on a black and white shirt.”
The Premier League side had been in the running for former striker Andy Carroll and recently have been linked with a move for Marseille’s French striker Loic Remy. With a month to go before the transfer window shuts down, Pardew is keen on adding fresh faces
to the squad.
