Newcastle United’s interest in Lille’s full-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682 appears to have cooled down because of the French club's hardball tactics in freeing up the player for a transfer.
Debuchy, who is a very versatile player, operates primarily as a right back, but can also play in the midfield. The player is known for his ferocious bursts of pace and attacking tenacity. Debuchy is second choice right-back for the French team, but had
to step up for the national team in last month’s Euro 2012 tournament following first choice full-back Bacary Sagna’s injury.
Having impressed everyone, putting in solid attacking and defensive displays for the French side. Debuchy is also a French Ligue 1 title winner with Lille and has been an integral part of the club.
Debuchy had expressed his desire to leave Lille earlier this summer, and singled out Newcastle United as his primary destination. The French right-back has been linked with the Tyneside club since the start of the summer transfer window, and ever since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899
exited the Euros, Magpies manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has shown a steady interest in the player.
Pardew has talked publicly of his interest in Debuchy and had singled him out as Newcastle’s number one priority for the summer. Lille had agreed to let the player go this summer only if they are able to find a suitable replacement for him.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Lille had moved closer to signing a replacement for Debuchy in newly promoted French club Troyes' 19-year old full back Dijibril Sidibe. Lille however have still not accepted Newcastle’s offer for Debuchy according
to various sources in France.
Newcastle’s latest offer for Debuchy was £3.9 million, which was rejected by Lille. It is understood that Lille are now willing to let the full-back leave but will not accept anything less than £7.8 million. The Frenchman was seen training with the Lille
squad yesterday and had a meeting with Lille president http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 Seydoux and head coach Rudi Garcia regarding his transfer.
It has recently been learnt that Italian giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan have also shown an interest in the French right-back, and Lille will sell him to the highest bidder. Alan Pardew has already started working on other transfer targets, and it looks like Debuchy
might not end up at the Sports Direct Arena after all.
