Newcastle versus Manchester City - Preview
Manchester United have the chance to take a five point lead at the top of the table this Christmas, but arch rivals Manchester City will be looking to crush those aspirations of United. City will be looking to be the Grinch who stole Christmas at the other
end of Manchester by winning their own respective game over in Tyneside against a Newcastle side who are under the command of a new coach, Alan Pardew.
Last time out, City themselves had the chance to rise to the occasion and force themselves into the title chasers' exclusive club, all they had to do was beat Everton at the City Of Manchester Stadium to go top of the Barclays Premier League. And if they
had, they would’ve stayed there at least till Christmas, something a City side has not managed for 81 years, and now the wait is set to continue after City fell to two early goals from Everton, a shot in the foot they could not recover from.
It’s like City are scared to announce themselves on the big stage, to take the league by the scruff of the neck, to do what it takes to win a game and win the league. Of course those are attributes that come with experience, but experience is definitely
something City are not short on. In their manager Roberto Mancini, they have someone who has won titles time and time again in the Italian Serie A. In their captain Carlos Tevez, they have a player who has achieved all personal and collective team accolades
in his short stint as a Manchester United player. In Yaya Toure, they have someone who has again won multiple titles in Spain with Barcelona. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kolo-c21278 Toure is a player who has been there and done that with Arsenal, he was also part of the infamous Arsenal's ‘invincibles’
side that went a whole league season unbeaten. In David Silva, they have a European championship and World Cup winner after his exploits with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
So, City undeniably have the quality and the experience to be a major force in the title's final destination decision. But they lack urgency, a realization that they are yet to prove themselves as City players, and to eradicate the feeling that they are
all there just for the ridiculously lucrative salary packages rather than the footballing side of it. But that would be like George W Bush admitting that he didn’t invade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iraq-c2924 for the war on terrorism but for a few oily benefits. It’s something that is unlikely
to happen. With the pay packets the players at Eastlands get, it’s easy to forget the sole purpose you play football, to win and have fun. They, on the other hand, must feel like they’ve made it to the big time and are there to stay. But, ironically in football
you’re not remembered for the amount of money you’ve made, you’re remembered for the amount of titles you’ve won, just ask http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bill-c7610 Gates couldn’t have been
as big as Zidane?
But this week, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 will be looking to get back on track after the disappointments of weeks gone by. They need to keep the chase on Manchester United, you can never afford to give United room to breathe and City need to understand that if they want to
be champions come May. But to win this game will certainly not be an easy task, Newcastle are under new management and in his first game at the helm, Alan Pardew orchestrated a magical win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. And the Geordies are a formidable threat, especially
at St. James Park where they’ve also defeated Sunderland 5-1 in the Tyneside derby; they also decimated Aston Villa in the beginning of the season with a 4-0 thumping. And in Andy Caroll, they have a quality striker who can prove more than a match to any defender
in this league.
