Question:

Newer generation PDAs any better?

The last PDA I bought was in 2004, a Palm Zire 72, and I was very disappointed with the short lived battery, constantly losing my data, having to reset and restore, and eventual slow agonizing death. I loved the features, but was constantly frustrated at the poor synchronization (especially after a crash), and constant crashing of the Palm OS. However, this unit was the most compatible with my computer setup at the time.

Does anyone have any ideas regarding 1) whether I'd still be disappointed with the battery life from what it was 4 years ago; 2) whether synchronization issues have gotten better with Palm devices; 3) whether I should try a different manufacturer and software; or 4) whether I should just stick to the old fashioned method of writing it down.

Honestly, I embrace technology, but that Zire 72 was a huge pain in my butt!

  1. New generation are much better. They have better life, are less likely to loose data, and sync issues should be better. You could always move to a Palm Centro, or Treo phone and you get a pretty good battery life(at least I did on both my Treos). Windows devices are very good, but can be overwhelming for the starting user or the user who does not demand much out of their device. Blackberry on the other hand is better, but still can be kind of overwhelming for some. Never used a Nokia device so I can not comment on them. But, for you it seems like Palm OS is a ample and capable device for most of your needs.
