The Group 2 Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes (Fillies) has pulled together some commendable talent in the form of the eleven candidates who are taking up the challenge today. The race that has to be scheduled at York over six furlongs on Thursday, 23rd
August, 2012 carries the prize money worth £62,381.
Three among the candidates are in for striking a hat-trick by winning the race today while quite a handful have secured positions in the races that they became a part of most recently.
Backed by 5 to 6 chances for claiming the race today is the two-year-old, Newfangled, who is unbeaten in the first two outings of the career. The bay/brown filly responded to the first asking of breaking the maiden and was then given an entry at the graded
level.
Her career debut was in the Lloyds TSB Commercial E B F Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on 8th June, 2012 at Newmarket over six furlongs. The John Gosden trained won by a hefty margin of 4 ½ lengths while riding with jockey, William Buick.
Riding in the capable hands William Buick, the American bay/brown filly did not have to wait for long to set and then dictate the pace, she took the charge just a little before the decisive furlong approached.
It was the evening’s favourite, Fleeting Smile, who settled right behind the winner.
The Darley bred got an entry in the graded stakes right away.
New Approach’s daughter out of mare, Scarlet Ibis, won the Group 3 Albany Stakes on 22nd June, 2012 at the Royal Ascot over six furlongs. Entered as the favourite in the second outing of the career, she displayed a strong start and did not wait
for long for picking up the pace. Responding to the tug of the jockey, William Buick, the two-year-old had the final furlong all to herself.
The filly defeated the runner-up, Agent Allison, by 2 ½ lengths. Coming at terms with the third position was, Premier Steps.
The two-year-old will be ridden by the regular jockey, William Buick, and the favourite racing pair will take on the competition from the eleventh stall.
