Newly acquired Marco Scutaro prepares to stand for Colorado Rockies - MLB News
The Colorado Rockies are currently moving in the right direction acquiring experienced Major League players for their franchise in order to put up a fighting chance next season.
Some of their new signings are even coming on the local media and commenting optimistically for the team and their preparations for the upcoming season in MLB. Recently, the Rockies’ newly acquired player Marco Scutaro came out in the media and stated confidently for the 2012 season. He talked to some media personals in his home town and hoped for better combined team results.
Later, the Rockies' general manager Dan O'Dowd also commented in the media regarding his new player’s game plan and how he will be benefitting the franchise for a longer period.
O'Dowd said, “He fits in well. He's another guy with a slow heartbeat that is a winning player. I will let (manager) Jim (Tracy) figure out where he wants him, but he should allow the other guys to relax and just play the game. We don't have to talk to guys like Scutaro about how we want them to approach the game offensively. There are many different ways to put a team, We know we are not a perfect club, but we have room to do some more things as the season goes and we will see how this shakes itself out.”
Taking O'Dowd's view point, Marco Scutaro certainly possesses some extraordinary baseball skills. Having nine years of professional playing experience at the highest level with the New York Mets along with Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox, Scutaro can certainly boost the current Rockies level.
His game has also improved from .300 to .299 hitting average with seven home-runs, 54 RBIs and a terrific .358 OBP last season. While overall his game has been improving as he currently stands at .270 hitting, 68 homers, 404 RBIs and .338 OBP.
His arrival in the Rockies is a good sign and whenever the team will be unfolding their 40-men roster’s details in the media, Scutaro’s role as outfielder comes up with more responsibility to take this franchise for more consistent results next season.
