Question:

Newly pierced ears, volleyball game?

We're not allowed to wear earrings while playing volleyball, but I just got my ears pierced and can't take out the earrings for another two weeks. I put bandaids over them the other night for a game, and the ref said I couldn't do that anymore, as it was against league regulations. Would I be okay to take them out for the game, or even for the sets I play, and then put them right back in? I usually play all the sets, however. Is there anything else I can do? Advice would be lovely, everyone, I have a game in a few hours.

  1. Go buy a pair of really cheap crappy earring.perferrably the plastic or kind of idk how to explain of jelly like kind and make sure the base is clear. Rip off the bead gem or whatever is on these crappy earrings and take off the new ones and put these in. The refs never notice plus you won't have to worry about getting yourself into trouble. Just in case ask if anyone likes your earrings game night if they say your not wearing any you passed the test! BUT BEWARE IF THE BASE IS CLEAR THEY CAN SEE THEM!

  2. string fishing wire through the holes and they wont close up.

  3. wear tiny tiny studs and cover thim with a piece of athletic tape, not a band-aid. This is allowed.

If the ref ask about it tell her that your ears are infected...and then she wont ask questions...somtimes ya gotta tell a little white lie  to get your way.

  4. I had the exact same problem when i played club volleyball last year.

You won't be able to keep the earrings in, but in between games you dont play, just poke your earrings in to make sure the holes dont close.

This worked for me, hope it helps!

  5. OK just tell the ref or your coach that you aren't able to take out the studs because they're newly pierced.  IF YOU TAKE THEM OUT THEY WILL GET INFECTED AND WILL CLOSE.  Don't do it!  Just explain that it's impossible for you to take them out.  If they persist....take legal action! haha Really though don't take them out.

  6. you should be just fine if you take them out for the game.  Believe me, skin heals itself, but not that fast.

It'll take days for the hole to close in.  You'll be fine for a few hours.

  7. you are going to have to take them out but I would not stick them in between games for the following reasons.  There are so many germs on that ball, you are all sweaty and you now have an open hole that you will get germs into just by toughing the earing.  They will not close in an hour.  When the game is over go wash your hands and earing because there are germs where ever you set them and then put them back in.  Good luck in your next game

  8. why would you get your ears pierced while playing vball? you should have waited until the season was over!! DUH!

  9. I had the same problem.  When I got my ears pierced, I was notified of a new volleyball season the next day. Of course, I couldn't resist, but they said that we'd have to take our earrings out.

I was nervous, but it was so incredibly easy to put them back in.  We actually poked them back through in between games just so they didn't close.  (We -- My friend also got her ears pierced with me and she had the same problem)

    Hope that helped!

  10. take it out and put dental floss in, my friend does it all the time w/ her belly button

  11. It is against the rules to wear the earrings.  Do not beg the referees or your coach.  You can not wear tiny studs.  No earrings.  You may get away with it if you are lucky.  However, if I were your coach, I would not allow it either.

I teach refereeing clinics.  I have a great picture of a player that wore earrings and did not get caught by the referee.  The picture shows the big triangular tear in the ear lobe.  The skin did not tear in a straight line the size of the earring.  It made a huge tear.  There was no bottom of the ear lobe.  And talk about blood.  Is it really worth it?

  12. It is not allowed to wear them at all, not even covered, even with tape, or at least it's not in the league I coach in, and it is middle school, where the refs tend to be more lenient with most things.  I hate that you will have to take them out, but if I were your coach, you'd either have to take them out or not play.  I tell my players at the beginning of the season not to get anything pierced, because they WILL be required to take it out if they are going to play.

  13. This is really dumb rulling but to Fix it I would say that you took the earings out of your eats and they were bleeding so you put bandaids to cover it.  No one is going to closly moniter this and you will be able to keep your earrings in.  Or just come in with Bandaids on your ears.

  14. its not like volleyball games last like over an hour or so....so um yeah it would be fine to take them out then put them back in after you play...

  15. if you had thought of this before you wouldnt have any problem.

  16. Don't, they will get infected!!

    Try to explain it!!
