Newmarket track has been labelled good for the upcoming Craven meeting
The two day meet at Craven is scheduled to start on good ground on 18thApril, 2012. Due to the changing weather conditions and rain, the surface of the track kept changing. It has been labelled good for the upcoming events.
Michael Prosser, who is a clerk of the course, stated to the press that: "The going is good. The GoingStick read 8.3 at 3.30pm which is slightly higher than it was on Monday afternoon. We had 1.5 millimetres of rain this morning, and managed to dodge
the showers this afternoon.”
He told the media that rain has been predicted on the forecast for Wednesday. He speculated about 4-6mm of rain will fall in the afternoon.
The surface for The Class 1 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) has been labelled good as it was reported that there was no rain on Wednesday night.
Russelliana, trained by Sir Michael Stoute for owner, Sir Evelyn De Rothschild, is the market leader, as she will race as a favourite with the winning odds of 4 to 1. John Gosden’s Starscope is also expected to do well.
Pimpernel, who is owned by Godolphin and is under the training of Mahmood Al Zarooni is also expected to excel in this race.
The Class 1 Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes (Group 3) (Colts & Geldings) is due to take place on Thursday, 19th April, 2012. The race features some of the most exciting runners, and it is attracting
a considerable amount of attention from the market.
With reference to Thursday’s weather conditions, Prosser stated that: "Thursday is expected to be more pleasant. It will get warmer, with temperatures of around 12C, although there is just the possibility of an isolated shower."
Most Improved and Mighty Ambition are creating the most buzz as they are attracting the most bets.
Their connections have also shown confidence in their ability to excel. These two runners may go head to head in this race and will fight for the victory.
Referring to Mighty Ambition victory in the maiden, Mahmood Al Zarooni told the press that he expects the runner to deliver a performance which is just as impressive. He is hoping that the runner will move in the “right direction.”
