Newport triumphs Grand Champions Cup (Recap)

Newport succeeded to win the title of Grand Champions Cup after defeating Flat Out at Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, city of Florida. The season ending tournament was concluded on the other day with the triumph of Newport, which was obtained after
a hard competition.
The final match normally considers a tough competition of the event as it decides the fate of the trophy but Newport performed brilliantly in the final game and made the victory possible.
Galindo and J.J Celis rendered outstanding performances in the final and scored six and four goals respectively. Hector Galindo scored three goals in last seven and half minutes of the match, which changed the scenario of the game suddenly. Newport after
beating Flat Out in a struggling final match with 13-11 score captured the title of Grand Champions Cup.
First chukker of the final was opened with the goal of Steven Scott of Flat Out; however in response, J.J Celis and Robert Orthwein of Newport marked single goal apiece. The game was equalled at 2-2 with the first goal of Brandon Phillips before the end
of first seven and half minutes of the match.
Flat Out’s lead expanded by a single goal of Paul Knapp in start of the second frame of the game. Withal, classical performer Hector Galindo responded with a goal by converting a penalty hit into a successful goal score. The chukker was finished at 4-3 score.
Steven Scott of Flat Out levelled the score at 4-4 by hitting second goal of the game; however, Hector Galindo of Newport side responded with a goal. Later on, J.J Celis converted a penalty hit into roaring goal and gave a two-goal lead to Newport.
Lucas Lalor cut the Newport’s lead down with the first goal of the match. Meanwhile, first half of the final game was concluded at 6-5 score.
Second half of the match was opened with two back to back goals of Brandon Phillips, who first levelled the game and then gave one goal lead to Flat out. An aggressive game was observed in fourth frame of the game. The pair of goals of J.J Celis and a single
goal from Orthwein upped the lead of Newport foursome by two goals, 9-7 before the end of fourth frame.
Newport remained scoreless in the fifth chukker of the match as Flat Out showed outstanding defence. On the other side, attackers of Flat Out performed extensively and Paul Knapp scored two consecutive goals followed by single goal of Steven Scott. The chukker
was finished at 10-9 score.
In the last chukker of the match, a battle was witnessed between Flat Out and Newport foursomes as one wanted to equal the score while the other wanted to hold the lead. Back and forth shots were played in that period to obtain a goal.
After a foul from Flat Out, Hector Galindo scored a goal on penalty shot and equalled the score at 10-10 while his team-mate Orthwein marked another goal and gave lead to Newport foursome. However, Paul Knapp of Flat Out again levelled the game with fourth
goal of the match.
In the last three minutes of the game, Hector Galindo scored a pair of goals and secured the victory for his foursome. Newport captured the victory by 13-11 score.
Highest scorer of the game was Hector Galindo with six goals, while J.J Celis and Robert Orthwein marked four and three goals respectively.
Paul Knapp accounted for four goals while Steven Scott and Brandon Phillip scored three goals each. Meanwhile, Lucas Lalor scored one goal for losing side.
Due to superb performance in the final, Hector Galindo was awarded the Player of the tournament award while J.J Celis’s mare was awarded best Playing Pony of the tournament.
