News Update: Manchester United
Manchester United's longest serving manager Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out any retirement plans and remains focused on getting the club to even more heights. Ferguson, who joined Manchester United in 1986, overtook the record of Sir Matt Busby this Sunday
and became the longest serving Manchester United manager. The Scotsman will celebrate his 69th Birthday on the 1st of January.
Ferguson has won an overwhelming 35 trophies in his 24 year with the club but his hunger for more silverware remains the same. Ferguson had decided to call it a day in 2002, but now regrets even thinking that. The thirst for more trophies remains the same,
as United are currently top of the premier league rankings with a match in hand. The side also conceded just one goal in the group stages of the UEFA Champions league and were drawn against French side Marseille. The manager may well be stretchered out of
Old Trafford but is currently in very good health. Ferguson has won 11 premier league titles along with 2 Champions league trophies.
"The older you get the more worried you are about retiring. You start to realise that whilst you have got your health and good fitness, you should carry on in your job. All thoughts of retirement are in the back of my mind. It (saying he was going to go)
was a mistake. At the time there were some reasons for it. It was one of those things," stated the Manchester United coach.
The stamina and resilience of Sir Alex Ferguson has gone up since the day he joined the club and still works with the same energy to make United one of the best club on the planet. The manager’s success is unparallel in history and neither the fans nor the
management want him to go.
Manchester United face Sunderland at Old Trafford and win at home would keep the side on top of the premier league table. United have not lost a single premier league fixture this season and may well be undefeated when they head into the New year.
