News from Korea Open and Open de Moselle tennis tournaments
The professional tennis player from Hungary, Agnes Szavay has made her way into the semi-final round of the Korea Open tennis tournament after getting the better of last year’s winner Kimiko Date Krumm from Japan in a total of three sets. The final match
score was 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-3.
“We had a big fight. I guess Kimiko is a good player and she was really fighting till the end,” said the eighth seeded Agnes after concluding the match.
Agnez also said that she is hoping to get back into the top thirty in the WTA world rankings to secure seedings for the next season’s Grand Slam tournaments. She was of the view that her main target is to play well in the major events and at least reach
the later rounds of all of them.
Szavay as a result of this victory will next take on a fifth seeded player Alisa Kleybanova in the semis of the Korea Open tennis tournament. Alisa has reached the semi-final round after brushing aside her Russian tennis foe, Ekaterina Makarova in a total
of two sets. The final match score was 6-1, 6-2.
Alisa while commenting on her yesterday’s victory over Makarova said, “It was not a very tough match as far as the score is concerned. However, I am really glad that I won it in the end, and now I am looking forward to my next one.”
The top seeded tennis ace, Nadia Petrova from Russia also performed above the line to defeat her Belgian tennis foe Kirsten Flipkens in a total of two sets on Friday. The final match score was 6-2, 6-1. Petrova, as a result of this victory has set up a semi-final
round with Klara Zakopalova from Czech Republic at the Korea Open tennis tournament. Klara, on the other hand, has reached the semi-final round of the tournament after toppling the former top-ranked tennis ace, Dinara Safina from Russia in a two-setter clash.
The final match score was 7-5, 6-3.
In some other action in Metz, Philipp Kohlschreiber managed to down Marin Cilic in the quarter final round of the Open de Moselle tennis tournament. Philipp as a result of this victory will next play Gilles Simon for a place in the final battle.
Philipp Kohlschreiber comfortably eliminated the Open de Moselle's top seeded on Friday, cruising past Marin Cilic in the quarter final round in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6-4, 6-1. Philipp required just one hour and nineteen minutes
setting up a semi-final match with Gilles Simon.
Marin, though had a couple of opportunities to make a clash throughout the opening set, however, he failed to make use of them.
After losing in the opening set, Marin lost his confidence and looked totally out of touch during the start of the second set. Philipp sealed a quick break and never turned back as he finished the clash by winning a total of eight final games on Friday.
The world number 31 tennis player from Germany lost just a total of five points in his final four service games, and he did not face a single break point during the decisive set of the match.
"I am very happy about the win today," said Kohlschreiber. He added, "Cilic tried to put a lot of pressure on me from the beginning and I am very happy that I could save the break points he had. Of course it is a special feeling to defeat somebody like Cilic,
who is ranked Top 20, after the positive results that I had in September."
Kohlschreiber and Gilles recently met in the second round of the United States Open tennis tournament with the French player prevailing in a total of five sets in the end.
