News that effects the whole world?

ugh, for my world history class this year shes making us do these current events and thye cant just be any local story it has to be news that effects the whole freaking world, like a cure for cancer! omg idk where to find such outrageous stories as that and thye must be RECENT..

any help?

Very few news items would effect the entire world other than global warming,alien invasion,or a nuclear war. However, decisions made in America can have huge implications for many other countries. For example the collapse of the American sub prime mortgage market has had huge implications in Britain and Ireland to my certain knowledge, and possibly in many other countries as well. The American decision to station a missile shield in Poland has had immense effect on East /West diplomacy. The suggestion from one of your presidential candidates that Georgia (country not state) should be immediately be allowed to join Nato would possibly have started a conflict that would have involved most of Europe, Canada,USA and Russia. A sharp fall on the NYSE will immediately be echoed across the world. This is why a large number of people across Europe are very concerned as to who the American people choose to be their next president. There are many in Britain, Canada, and a variety of other countries whose sons and daughters would still be alive had not their own countries for whatever reason decided to participate in George Bushes wars. So go with the saying that "when America  sneezes the rest of the world will catch a cold"
