News update: Roberto Mancini and Samir
Nasri receive monthly awards
Barclays Premier league have chosen Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini as the “Manager of the Month” while Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has been awarded with the “Player of the Month” award.
Both men deserved the accolade for their tremendous services towards the team.
Roberto Mancini managed four out of five wins with City, which has led them to be second in the premier league, four points behind Manchester United. December was huge month for the Citizens, who not only played well at home, but performed equally well on
their away fixtures.
City managed impressive victories over Bolton Wanderers and Aston Villa at the City of Manchester Stadium. The side also won away fixtures at Upton Park (West Ham United) and St James (Newcastle United), which is big achievement since both these teams don’t
let much pass through at their home. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 labelled this month as “crucial” as a lot of fixtures were lined up. City also had to keep their Europa league fixtures in mind, where they faced the likes of Juventus and Red Bull Salzburg. The side’s only dent
to a perfect month was their narrow 2-1 defeat to Everton at home. Yet, Mancini has to be credited for bringing his side to the top four and are genuine title contenders for the league this season.

The player is on fire this season and won the award deservingly. Nasri managed to score in the Champions league as well, most recently against Partizan Belgrade.
These awards are given out to players and managers who have shone the brightest in a given month. The decision is made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which have a set representation from football bodies, critics and the fans.
