Newsreader Qualifications?

What qualifications do you have to do to become a newsreader? as i want to be one in the future (i am 15).

Also, how would you come about being a news reporter, Would i have to go to BBC London news centre and apply for a job?

  1. you have to make friends with a bunch of turtle super heroes and a martial arts skilled rat called splinter, then most of your stories will probably get onto channel 6 news.

    no really you have to get various qualifications in media studies (GCSE/A-level), and for a degree look to do something in the direction of broadcasting, television production, news etc. Ask your careers adviser at school.

    look for as much work experience in TV studios as possible, as the older you get, the more they wont care about you anymore, so do it all now and really get your foot in the door.

    Its prety competitive and yeah i guess most of the jobs are in and around London/big cities.


  2. It would be a good idea to plan on taking journalism in school.  In the meantime go to your local t.v. or radio station and try to get some part time work. Good luck it sounds like a wonderful career choice.

  3. I don't know how they do things in Great Britain, but in the U.S., it's customary for news readers to have some credentials in journalism technique and newsgathering practice before becoming a news reader. News readers tend to be broadcast veterans, not newbies
