Newton's Third Law of Motion

Why is Newton's third law of motion actually considered a law of motion? In my opinion it has nothing to do with motion and more with the nature of forces.

  1. Third law: "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

    I wouldn't say it has "nothing" to do with motion.

    This law is the reason oars move boats.... feet move skateboards, and jet engines move airplanes.


  2. True Newton's laws are about how force causes motion. The first says: no force no change in velocity, the second tells exactly you how force causes acceleration (i.e. change in velocity) and the third tells you about the reaction to an applied force.
