  1. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk You can get live timetables from there. If you have Vista you can download their sidebar gadget that will give you live train departures/arrivals.

Oops Edit: Yes there are tables on the train from Newton Abbot to Paddington. Enjoy your journey.

  2. On most trains now, I would imagine that around seating areas there are tables for the use of passengers. I would advise that you contact the Station Enquiries desk, to find out whether what you ask is available.

I personally would prefer like you, a table in front of me when I'm travelling, both for convenience and comfort, especially if you're with children/working or placing drinks/food etc.

  3. Maybe others like me thought he meant time tables..

Who in h**l thinks of twix seats tables nowadays  the fine East Coast line to Glasgow  has  no tables

  4. in most carrages there are as you will be travelling by an intercity express train and not the slow trains that stop at every station, you can book a seat in advance [i found this out when travelling from Slough to Exeter to pick up a car i won on ebay] ask about this when you purchase the ticket, they are also cheaper if you purchase them in advance on the british rail web site than the station ticket office

  5. It amazes me constantly how people here cannot answer a simple question. The answer to your query is yes there are. Services from Newton Abbott to Paddington are provided by High Speed Trains which are comprised of open carriages. In second class these provide a mixture of seating, some 2x2 across a table, others airline style with a drop down table from the seat in front. If you are travelling with a family, for example, and want to be together around a table, I would advise booking at the station and making your requirements known. If you don't book, but just turn up, then it will be a question of pot luck as to what is available.
