Next Als coach?

Question

Who SHOULD be the next Als coach AND who WILL be the next Als coach? The Montreal Gazette has tossed out Steve Buratto, Jacques Chapdelaine, Greg Marshall, Tim Higgins, Marcel Bellefeuille and Chris Jones. What about Danny Barrett?

I just hope they don't fall into the bilingual francophone PR trap. Montrealers will support any coach, win or.......well, okay, any coach that wins.

I think Marshall deserves another shot.  He has a great resume.  He was coach of the year in the CFL once.  Will he get the job?  That French thing could rear it's ugly head.  Look at how much flack Koivu got.  Whoever gets the job is going to have to be able to speak French if he plans on staying past the first press conference

There is certainly some interesting names out there, but as the CFL goes rarely the favorite gets picked.

Marshall deserves another shot for sure, but I don't think he would be there right guy for Montreal.

Steve Buratto would make an interesting coach there and I think he could probably get the job done.

Tom Higgins may have run he course although he did OK in Edmonton, something weird happened in Calgary that didn't seem to make the press. Even though he didn't have bad years in Calgary - all of a sudden, during the playoffs, the words leaks he is out? Something didn't make sense there.

Danny Barrett might be OK, but between him and Shivers I think they had the Riders pretty screwed up. They kept playing Greene when they had Rocky Butler and Kevin Glenn, and Henry Burris on the bench?

So with all of that said Jacques Chapdelaine might be a front runner. He has an offensive mind, and plenty of experience with some decent teams. However, I don't know his contractual status.

I am thinking that Jacques Chapdelaine or Greg Marshall are front runners for the job. Although it is hard to count out Higgins because he has had such a prominent coaching career so far. I have heard a lot of talk about Steve Buratto also being a top candidate. I don't think he is ready though. Last year as his first year being offensive coordinator for the Argos he was not very good. The offense was brutal it was the worst offense in the league. I think he should stay as the offensive coordinator in Toronto for a few more years he could really develop into a much better coach.
