Question:

Next Opponent For Anderson Silva?

No one knows who will be Anderson Silva's next opponent. In the UFC I belive that Michael Bisping is the third best middleweight right behind Rick Franklin, since Franklin has proven that he cant beat Silva I belive that after Bisping's first round TKO of Jason Day that he would be the best opponent to chalenge for the midleweight title. If not Bisping than who should be next for Silva?

  1. bisping doesn't have the nards to fight Silva

  2. Your probably right but Silva is just still so much better than Bisping. I think the only way to beat him is to catch him off guard by submission the way Ryo Chonan did.

  3. I think that Hendo should fight one of the top contenders like Bisping, Leites or Cote and if he wins he gets the rematch if he loses than the winner just beat one of the best the sport has seen and the deserve a title shot.  Hendo had a very good first round against Silva and got caught early in the second wtih a big knee.  I think we could see a much more worthy championship fight between these two.

  4. dan henderson should get a rematch look how he fought in pride and compare it to his last fight ...hes gonna win next time

  5. the MW division is so screwed up, because as people climb the ladder in that division, they keep losing to the second best fighter (Franklin) who has been destroyed by the best fighter (Silva) twice.

Bisping is probably the best choice in the division right now, and highly doubt that he will go back upto LHW considering how good he's been since he dropped down.  Now he has the strength advantage against most oppenents, and he looks so much quicker.

Patrick Cote is on a 3 fight win streak, and i think if he beats Almeida at UFC 86, he might be only another win or two away from a title shot.

Thales Leites just beat Nate Marquardt which gives him 4 wins in a row.  If Cote wins his next fight, maybe Cote vs. Leites would be a descent fight for number one contender after Bisping gets his shot that is.

The only other fight that would really get me excited about this division right now would be Rick Franklin vs. Dan Henderson!

As for Wanderlei Silva moving down to MW, i think that would be awesome for the divivion, but considering he just destroyed Jardine, i doubt it will happen.  If he had lost that fight i could have maybe seen it then.  There's too many big fights for him at LHW.  Rematch with Liddell being the biggest.  Plus he has two wins over the Rampage, so he probably figures he still belongs in that division.

  6. I would like to see Kote or Kampmann get a shot. neither should beat silva but styles make fights and i think they both did enough to warrant a shot over some retrad like doerkson, franklin or lutter or something

  7. AB you have no clue what you are talking about!  Second who knows if its Bisbing he better train his hardest because OMG its going to be Crazy!

  8. I hope he beheads Nate "The p***y" Marquadtwqxrtpwexq!!

  9. Who eva it is, good luck to them, they will need it.

  10. They are probaly going to throw Micheal Bisping at him. But ive heard that Wandalia silve might move down to middleweight. I dont think GSP will move up in weight class to fight anyone cause Dana White said he deasnt want 1 champ in 2 weight classes

  11. He' s going to fight Bisping, unless the rumors are true that he's going up to LHW to fight Liddell.

  12. Rumors have been going around that middleweight champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva will move up to the light heavyweight class, and that he'll be tested from the get-go - landing a bombshell of a match against Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell this September in UFC 88. One word: WOW.

If this story is true, this could shape up to be an amazing fight. I'm kind of surprised Dana wouldn't ease Silva into the light heavyweight class - I'm not saying Silva should be handed cupcakes, because he'd likely roll over them just as easily as he's been doing in the middleweight class. But Silva-Liddell is a HUGE ticket to push - you don't want Silva coming out flat, trying to adjust to the different weight class. But, hey, if it happens, I'll definitely have my nose to the screen watching every bit of it. Maybe by then Comcast will have it in HD...

One other point to consider, is what the implications this fight will have for each fighter. I think Liddell has the most to lose here. He hasn't been the same since getting knocked out by Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. (Sidenote: say Silva beats Liddell, wins another light heavyweight fight or two, and lands a match against Rampage....I'm beginning to black out, just thinking about it....) After getting laid out by Rampage, Liddell lost in a decision to Keith Jardine, in a snoozer of a match. Liddell did bounce back and beat Wanderlei Silva, but it was by decision, and Liddell still doesn't seem to be on top of his game. A loss to Anderson Silva certainly wouldn't help matters any. And at the same time, as great a fighter as Silva is, he's fighting out of his weight class, so people may not give Liddell a whole lot of credit if he notches the win.

So what does Anderson Silva have to lose? Not a whole lot. He's proven he can dominate the middleweight class. Say he loses to Liddell - no big deal, no one can fault him for trying to challenge himself. He goes back to middleweight, continues to roll guys over, and waits until Urijah Faber puts on a few pounds and jumps over to the UF.................sorry, another blackout. But say Silva beats Liddell? He further solidifies his legacy as arguably one of the best fighters the sport has seen. He earns himself a bigger payday because there are more "stars" for him to fight in the light heavyweight class - Liddell, Rampage, Forrest Griffin, Wanderlei Silva, Rashad Evans, etc. All in all, I think Silva's got everything to gain in this matchup.

  13. i would personaly LOVE to see gsp move up to middle weight and fight this guy. he'd be the lighter version of couture! but there is noone in the middle weight division that can touch silva. i say a rematch with lutter or henderson if i had to stay in the middleweight range
