so i felt the 5.8 earthquake from chino hills today

and i live in LA. i am terrified! i didn't know much about earthquakes until i did some research today and i heard theres a high chance, and its most likely going to happen that there is going to be a huge earthquake from 7.0 to 9.0 around los angeles. im so scared. and it seems like people around here dosent care about it!

they are all just like, oh its okay

its 30 years, but 30 years is kind of short considering im 16

and an earthquake like that could destroy homes and buildings and not to mention your family friends.

why doesn't anyone care?!

it seems like it never happen!

when the earthquake comes, A LOT more damage is going to happen.

  1. you know how they say they cant predict earthquakes, how do they now that theres gona be a big one in 30 years how do they even now theres even gonna be a big one , they dont now whats going on down there, they have no chance they can predict it,  no way!! they only study earthquakes by patterns that have happend, they say that there no way to predict quakes , no 100% they say, im thought of that to, and i was freaked out, because i live in montebello,ca east of downtown LA, no way

  2. im worried to becauses the earthquake today could have been a before shock well have to deal with it  if your scared e mail me

  3. i'm pretty sure that people do worry, but they don't voice their opinions out loud all the time, and it is kind of silly to have a worry about an unpredictable phenomenon take over your life.precautions are being made, and it is much safer in places where earthquakes have occurred before, because people know the drill and have learned from past earthquakes, now a lot of buildings and roads etc. are earthquake proof.so don't worry too much!

and even if someone originally told me it was 6.5, i just looked it up and it was 5.4

  4. yeah I'm so scared earthquakes are unperdictable.Whenever my desk shakes I yell out earthquake! But it's really me shakin' it.

  5. Earthquakes are a part of life.  We can't yet predict them, and we can't stop them, so spending all our time worried that "the big one" might hit today is a waste of time.

The so-called "big one" might hit tomorrow... it might hit 30 years from now... it might not hit for another 100 years.  You don't know, so don't stress about it.  Just be generally prepared, and you'll be fine.
