Next month I'm taking my first ever train trip?

Question

Any tips or hints? I'll be riding mostly on the Capitol Limited if it makes any difference.

Once you're on board the train, lay on the floor and hang on to something as quickly as possible. Just kidding. There's no tips to give here. You'll like it.

Chip-

Sounds like you are about to have a little fun.  Though I can tell you, if you are riding the Capitol Corridor Limited out of San Jose, about the only senic areas that you are going to expereince is San Pablo Bay, and the Suisun Marshland Area.  

It should be a fairly good ride though.  

My wife and I take the Coast Starlight #14 and #11 twice a year from the San Jose Diridon Station to Seattle.  Its definately a nice ride.  The train normally gets into San Jose on time, but above Sacramento is where they often run into trouble keeping their schedules.

If you have not made that trip yet, I would suggest that you do this at least once in your life, and definately bring a camera with you.  You are going to be so close to Mt. Shasta you can almost touch the snow!  Its wonderful!

Why is this such a big deal that you need to come online and ask for tips?  You go to the station, show your ticket, and get on.
