Next stage of CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup to begin in Denmark
The latest stage of the CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup will begin shortly in Copenhagen, Denmark. The beach volleyball matches are scheduled to last till the coming Sunday, September 11.
The participating teams have all been gearing up and practicing hard to improve their performance and play at their best as the tournament will be filtering out teams for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The event is going to feature both men’s as well as women‘s teams with many duos belonging to European countries. On the men’s side, teams from Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Netherlands, Romania as well as that of the host country Denmark, are going to be participating.
The Dutch will be coming into play bringing their duo of Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil while the Italian side will be showcased by the renowned Matteo and Paolo Ingrosso, both of whom are brothers.
The women’s tournament will also feature the host team, along with Estonia, Greece, Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark as well as Slovenia.
The tournament will not be reaching its close on Sunday, rather, it will move onto its next stage which will be having the best three teams from both men and women competing.
Up till this point, the team from the men’s side that has the top slot in the CEV Country ranking is Germany. Germany leads all else by a large margin at 4’970 points while the runner’s up position is filled by Netherlands trailing far behind at 3’900. Not
further off from the Netherlands, Switzerland finds itself with 3’830 point.
The women’s side is also topped by Germany with 4’020 points while the Italians stand in second place with 3’760 points. The third position is filled by the Netherlands duo not trailing much further away from Italy at 3’609 points.
The teams that are lucky enough to complete the tournament with flying colours will have the honour of appearing next in the Olympic Games which is considered to be the most prestigious sporting event of the world. The beach volleyball tournament in the
Olympic Games will be taking place in the grand location o0f the Horse Guards, which is next to Downing Street.
