Ive been running frequently and the most ive ran is 6 miles, which i did in 61 minutes. I wasnt out of breath. I felt fine. Im a 15 yr old female, and im in shape. Do you think that id be fine during the race if ive only run 6 miles in training? What do you think i should be running this week, the week before the race? Also what should i eat the morning of the race?

Thanks

  1. Not enough info to really give you any good advice.  If you run an average of 3 miles a day over a long period of time, then you should have no problem completing 9 miles.  If however, you run 6 miles every other month, 9 miles can be a trying experience.

There is a rule of thumb that says on any given day, you can run 3 times your average daily mileage.

    Good Luck

  2. Eat a smaller breakfast than usual and earlier than usual.  Lots of liquids  are advisable before the event just know the limits.

You should do fine with that training schedule,  keep training just lighten the distance the  at midweek, and none the 2 days before the race.  Walk and jog lighltly those days for nerves.  Since this is your first race, try to finish. not win. Pace yourself the first 1/2  and if you are burned out, drop out.  At this distance, experience will count as much as endurance.   Ice down at the end of the event.  Your muscles will thank you.

  3. I just got run 7 miles and I was not out of breath and I am used to running just four.  I think the race will be a good experience!  Why not try and do your best?  What do you have to loose?

If you can run 6 miles I think you will be fine.  Just pace you self a little more for the nine mile race.

    Good luck!
