Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness team earns top place at the NAGA event – Martial Arts News
NAGA (North American Grappling Association) conducted an event in which the team of the Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness competition came out successful. The Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness team entered the competition with the hopes
of clinching a win, but it turned out that the team created history. They got all the major wins in the event making them the most successful team in the tournament.
The Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness team was taking part in the tournament held in New England. The NAGA is one of the largest grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu event. The tournament is a centre of attraction for mixed martial arts
(MMA) and martial arts fans who enjoy watching fighters showing their combat skills. With a large number of gold medal wins by the participants of the Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness team. They secured a first place throughout the tournament in all categories
of the event.
At the NAGA Championships, Marcio Silva of Rochester won two gold medals. He also earned a belt in the Expert No-Gi and advanced Gi. John Murphy also won two gold medals who also won a title belt in the Expert No-Gi and advanced
Gi. Manuel Luz, who took part in the beginner’s No-Gi division in the tournament, won a gold medal. He also won a gold medal in the White belt Gi category.
Stephen Whittier, the owner of the Nexus Martial Arts & Fitness team was pleased for his team’s performance in the event. Whittier, the chief instructor of his team and has been working hard to keep his team in perfect physical
form, was very happy when his team was awarded the top spot in the tournament. Whittier said, “What was especially impressive this time was that we not only won the tournament, but we did it with a very small group of less than 10 adult competitors,”
What made Whittier pleased was the fact that his team made great advancements in the adult rankings of the tournament. His jubilation increased when the younger players also performed well and made their mark in the competition.
Whittier said, “To win a tourney of this size with that few people is extremely rare because we are going against some large, multi-school teams with a lot of competitors.”
