The retired defensive midfielder has claimed that the Santos forward will eventually feel the need to move to Europe in search of greater competition.
Retired Brazilian footballer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clodoaldo-c9377, has spoken on behalf of his compatriot, Neymar, stating that the youngster will move to European club sooner or later.
The World Cup winner exclaimed that it is important for a player at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Neymar-c27639’s level to be performing in football’s elite competitions, such as the Champions League.
The forward who represents Brazilian giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c32532, has been linked with a move to several elite European sides.
Widely believed to be a gifted footballer, the youngster rose to prominence in the summer prior to the start of the current season’s campaign, with clubs such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 all being interested in aquiring
his signature.
Of all the mentioned clubs, Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona, were tipped as heavy favourites to land the Brazilian international.
La Blaugrana were even rumoured to have made a first-refusal clause over Neymar’s transfer with Santos. Although both clubs denied such speculations, talk on the market about the forward joining Barca kept on spreading like wild fire.
Clodoaldo has voiced the belief that playing in Europe will do justice to Neymar’s flourishing talent and it will be a great boost to his career.
While talking to reporters, the retired veteran quoted:
"I think that the future will bring a need for Neymar moving to Europe. I believe he will be here for another good while yet, but I am sure that the need and the curiosity to play against the great teams of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 will appeal to
him and awaken his curiosity to know how he would fare in these leagues.”
"I'm not saying it will happen now. But maybe after the World Cup [in 2014]. He may feel the need to leave not because he will take the crown of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pele-c40189, but because he will want to take the crown of Messi."
According to reports, there are strong links between Neymar and Barcelona as he is expected to join the Catalan outfit after his current contract expires with Santos in 2014.
