Ng h*i Ern and Ng h*i Lin grab Women’s Doubles title at Austrian International Challenge 2012
Malaysia’s young sisters Ng h*i Ern and Ng h*i Lin defied all odds and went on to grab Women’s Doubles title after beating Eva Lee and Paula Lynn Obanana of U.S.A. in the final encounter of Austrian International Challenge 2012 on Saturday, February 25,
in Austria.
The un-seeded h*i Ern and h*i Lin played to their maximum potential in the title match and stunned their higher ranked opponents, Eva and Paula, who were the fourth seeds in the Women’s Doubles draw of the championship.
The Malaysian sisters showed their elevated skills and ended the straight-set match by thrashing their higher ranked rivals in just 31 minutes.
From the starting points of the opening set, both sides showed aggression as they played fast and attacking badminton and remained toe-to-toe in the first half.
Until the one-minute interval in the opening game, both pairs remained close on the score board.
After the break, h*i Ern and h*i Lin changed their strategy and started to dominate the game at net area. Their impressive net play and strong pushes forced Eva and Paula to take a defensive position.
h*i Ern and h*i Lin remained successful in getting an upper hand over their rivals by pushing them on back foot and ended it with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
In the second game, Eva and Paula accelerated their speed in the opening rallies and remained close to their Malaysian rivals until the ending points of first half.
They did not commit unforced mistakes this time and missed no chance to earn points.
After the break, h*i Ern and h*i Lin showed their impressive skills as they again became quicker in all areas of the court.
An impressive coordination between Malaysian shuttlers helped them in controlling the pace of rallies.
Until the concluding phase of second game, both sides remained equal on the score board.
However, h*i Ern and h*i Lin played composed and positive badminton at this stage and managed to earn the ending points to finish the set with a difference of 21-18.
This Women’s Doubles straight-set encounter ended in 31 minutes with a 21-16 and 21-18 score on the board.
