Ng h*i Lin and Ng h*i Ern leave national squad for studies, Rexy Mainaky to focus on other shuttlers
Malaysia’s Doubles national coach Rexy Mainaky will focus to groom more players in the Women’s Doubles squad, as Ng h*i Lin and Ng h*i Ern have left the national squad in order to continue their studies at the Loughborough University, in England.
It will take three years to Ng sisters to complete their degree in the subject of Economics.
Rexy is not worried at all with the declining number of shuttlers under his supervision in the category of Women’s Doubles as he is confident to fill the space soon with some other pairs in this category.
The coach is currently working on the elite duo of Chin Eei h*i – Wong Pei Tty along with two other talented pairs including Vivian Hoo – Woon Khe Wei and Lim Yin Loo – Marylen Ng Paou Leng.
Vivian and Khe Wei have recently delivered a surprising performance in the last week’s Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold, as they won the Women’s Doubles crown by beating top pairs in their road to glory.
While talking about the possible replacements of Ng sisters, Rexy said that there are other shuttlers who can come up and deliver well at international stage.
He said, “Eei h*i-Pei Tty are on the right track for the London Olympic Games while Khe Wei-Vivian are shaping up well following their breakthrough in Indonesia. Currently, we have enough players to bank on for next year’s Uber Cup Finals.”
Rexy further added, “It would have been good to have the Ng sisters as they would have added more depth to the team. They have left for England to pursue their studies. Fortunately, other younger pairs have stepped up.”
The World Number 39, h*i Lin and h*i Ern, have been playing quality badminton in major international events. They participated in the 2011 World Championships and lost in the second round. In 2010, Ng sisters finished at the podium berth in the India Open
GP Gold, as they lost in the final of the event.
The absence of Ng sisters will be felt by the national squad; however, the coach is confident to turn the existing shuttlers into world beaters.
