Ngoni skipper Kevin Sproul hopeful to gain second spot after 2011 Barcelona Trophy: Audi MedCup Circuit
British Soto 40 series yacht Ngoni was impressive in the recent 2011 Murcia Trophy at Cartagena, Spain and clinched the overall title of the event successfully to become the second event
winner in 2011 Audi MedCup Circuit after Iberdrola Team. The Spanish Iberdrola Team is currently leading the Soto 40 series standings and is likely to claim the circuit title.
The skipper helm Ngoni, Kevin Sproul was quite happy with his team’s performance in the 2011 Region of Murcia Trophy, as he led his team superbly during the regatta. Now he is aiming to
hit the second spot in the circuit standings, as they are far behind Iberdrola to claim the title.
While speaking to the local media before heading to Barcelona, Sproul said, “I really think that after our performance in Murcia that it is do-able. Our main thing will be to try and put
boats between us and Noticias in as many races as we can, and from that point of view a six boat fleet can only be better for us.”
He further added, “Certainly in Cagaliari I felt like Noticias was a little quicker in the big breeze at times, but we were certainly fast in Cartagena and go to Barcelona with a lot of
confidence. We feel like we have improved at each regatta so look forward to continuing with that.”
