why do they all wear flat caps and say their horse is working well !!!

Hey, it's the uniform!  Don't you know it's flat caps and tweed for NH season and trilbys/panamas for the Flat.

Trainers will never give a totally upfront answer about how they think their horses will run, remember a few years ago Sir Michael Stoute said Russian Rhythm had not come into her coat and he wasn't that happy with her?  She drifted out from favourite to 12-1 for the 1,000 Guineas and promptly won the race!

No N/H trainer will ever stick their neck out & say their horse WILL win as anything can happen over the jumps..` working well` means they are happy with the horse(s) performance on their home gallops, which means it/they should run well on the race course, as for the flat caps I think more of the trainers actually wear a Trilby, it keeps their heads warm.
