  1. I have never been, but had thought about going. My friend in Honduras told me it was not a good place to visit or live. I have also heard people from Costa Rica say the same thing. That the only crime in Costa Rica is when people from Nicaragua visit. I myself cannot judge without first hand seeing. I still would like to visit though. Maybe go on a mission awarenesss trip. I think then you see the real country and people. Vacation spots tend to over do the way things really are.

  2. Go for it except jop opportunities i seriously doubt you can find anything good but health care wise nicaragua's health care in my opinion is a lot better than the us. For one thing they don't charge outrageous prices to tell you that you have a common cold. The health care over there is extremely afforable and come from countries such as Sweden and other countries from Europe. Unlike the us that prohibits importing medicine from Europe which is a lot better.

  3. first come and see around,  there are many new homes being build, prices from $30,000 up, there are jobs, but if you have experience, you better spend time looking for it, some fields are growing, it will take time but there are jobs.

  4. i am from Nicaragua the best place to live is around the ocean i live their now and it is a beautiful view

  5. I tried the same, to live there. I had to leave i didn't find a job it's hard to find jobs locals are a priority when it comes to hiring since it is a problem, most likely you wont get health benefits.

  6. My family is also from Nicaragua and I've been there many times. I hear Managua has some violence, pickpockets or worse. The nice places to live depend on how much money you have and your view on what is nice. My family is from Leon and it is a very calm city and the people are very friendly. Job opportunities are few but i don't know what type of job you are looking for and the wages won't be great. The health care I wouldn't really know much about.

  7. I would like to know why do you want to move to Nicaragua? I'm not saying you shouldn't, but moving to another country is a big step.

We have a new government, so things as investments are a bit slow right now, waiting for the development of the government politics.

You can't forget that we are a third-world country, so we are in a lack of jobs which might make it a bit hard for you. Although, northamericans might have a chance at expensive private bilingual schools as teachers. And health care is provided their (english teacers are enoughly well paid at those expensive schools and of course they are given health insurance).

Take all this into consideration, investigate, and if you come to Nicaragua, our people will wait with arms wide open.

  8. in nicaragua you will never find a job 2.1 million nicaraguans are unemployed! that is why they move to costa rica, honduras, el salvador, panama, guatemala and mexico.

  9. Hello my name is yerson and I'm am from Nicaragua.you could move to Leon nic. or you can move to the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua because that is where the speak English.

  10. My husband's family is originally from Managua, Nicaragua.  He is actually on the phone with a friend there right now.  Jobs are scarce, but not impossible.  You just have to be willing to accept certain opportunities even if it isn't what you want to do.

Health care is not bad at all.  Their doctors usually study in the best programs - and many studied in foreign universities.  Our friend is a dentist in Managua and compared to the U.S. his costs are very very cheap.  He is doing orthodontic work on my husband's son.

  11. my family is from there. extremely nice.. you might want to stay in the main cities though... Managua, Leon or even San Rafael. those are really nice places... Beaches are amazing!!! but the roads suck.   Job opportunities.. is usually in the little shops or taxis.. that's the best thing.. but in the big city... I dont know
