  1. I've done that exact trip!  You are going to have so much fun.  I'm guessing that you're a surfer because that's really the only reason people head for San Juan del Sur.  It was a bit of a headache crossing the border because we had rented a car.  We had to leave one car in Nicaragua, take a minibus to the border, schlep our backpacks on foot across the border, get in another minibus, and then rent another car.  Whew!  I would highly suggest just taking Tica bus through.  You'll have to fill out all their paperwork (sometimes more than once) and have your baggage rifled through, but otherwise all you need is your passport.  Some people suggest having your vaccination card with you, proving that you're all up to date on your shots, but I've never heard of them actually asking to see it.  Have a great trip!

  2. well i am from nicarague and I have an aunt in costa rica and we toke a taxi from managua tothe border and then we tock abus to San Juan

  3. Definitely just your passport. I don't want to change your travel plans, but if you have time, when you're in San Juan Del Sur, you should take a chance to visit Ometepe Island. Just go from San Juan del Sur to San Jorge (about 30 min probably by car) then from San Jorge take the ferry to the island. That island is formed by 2 volcanoes! You should like it!

    Have fun!!!
