... that an American retiring down there will have digestion problems with their strange foods and possibly unhealthy water?

Is it recommended to boil most foods to kill bacteria? How long does it take for an ex-pat to adjust to their different germs?

I've heard a lot about Montezuma's Revenge so it's a definite possibility.

  1. Yes putting food in water and then boiling does get rid of germs. Now just because thats the case does not mean, you can do what ever to the food. When cooking being clean is a must.

  2. People who travel the world tell me that no matter what country you are from you will get sick eating and drinking the water of the other country. I worked with a man from Kenya and he  got sick when he came to the U.S and then every time he went home after a few years here he would get sick eating and drinking the water he grew up on.

It is  a fact that the water in many countries is not purified like it is here so if you are not raised on it, you will get sick.
