Nice NYC bar/lounge suggestions?

I have a friend visiting from LA this week & I want to take him to a nice classy, veryyy new york bar tonight - nice setting, exotic cocktails, very classy, very trendy, very new york....something to impress that you can't find in any other city...bc we wanna show those west coasters why NYC is the most fabulous....any suggestions?? I was thinking bubble lounge, katwalk, flatiron lounge, 230 5th...anyone got any better ideas?

Flatiron Lounge is good.

Similar to that is Pegu Club on Houston and West Broadway.  Great cocktails like Flatiron, but the crowd is more downtown chic than Flatiron ( I feel it gets too after-worksy)

230 5th is a must - due to the great views, but an alternative might be the rooftop bar @ the gansevoort hotel.  very trendy and s**y.
