  1. The major hospitals in Bne are at Chermside (Prince Charles, northside, about 30 mins to city), Herston (largest General hospital, inner city), South Brisbane (Mater), Woolloongabba (Princess Alexandra). There's also a major private hospital at Greenslopes.

When you say 'close enough', Bne is very spread out. Generally, the closer to the city, the more expensive the real estate. If 'hospital' is important to you, perhaps look around the southside where there are 3 major hospitals, eg West End/Highgate Hill area out to Moorooka, Dutton Park, Coorparoo, Norman Park etc.  Alternatively, Spring Hill, New Farm are close to the General Hospital at Herston; Chermside, Carseldine, Stafford, Kedron close to Prince Charles.

Plenty of schools scattered around Bne. Some popular schools, such as Brisbane State High, only take their majority of students from their 'catchment area', West End, Highgate Hill etc.

  2. Redcliffe, Redlands, Pullenvale, Graceville, Sherwood, Chelmer.  Also I hear that the Prime Minister had a house in Norman Park, so must be quite posh.

  3. The Redlands area, Cleveland, Wellington Point, Victoria Point, even Manly or Wynnum ?

About 30 mins to 1 hour drive to the CBD, depending on where in the Redlands.

2 mins to 15 mins to get to a boat ramp to put your boat in the Bay for some fishing.

40-50 minutes to the Gold Coast.

Plenty of good schools, Public and Private Hospitals in Cleveland.  Plenty of Shopping options, even a few ALDI's.

  4. All of the western suburbs (the north of the river ones) are great places to live and are close to the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital at Herston and the Wesley Hospital which is a very large private hospital.  Most of Brisbane's top private schools are in the west together with some of Brisbane's best primary and high state schools. The University of Queensland is in St Lucia (near Toowong and Indooroopilly) and there's also QUT's Kelvin Grove campus.

Kenmore, Chapel Hill, Indooroopilly, Taringa, Toowong, Milton, Auchenflower, Bardon, Ashgrove,The Gap are all excellent suburbs, though housing in none of them is cheap.
