Nice home theater?

Is this a nice home theater system or not. Why?

I cannot comment on the TV, but sony usually does a good job with them.

But that sound system is c**p.  These "systems" are single-use DVD player systems that do NOT allow you to hook up any other source like a HD cable box, HD Sat box, Game system (xBox or PS3), etc.  (We get lots of complaints about them here).

And no 'artsie' speaker system like that ever sounds good. You should avoid speakers by non-speaker companies like Yamaha, Sony, Denon, Phillips, Samsung, etc.  The TV's are great, the receivers can be outstanding, but the speakers are just cheap add-ins.

buy these:

quad or jbl speakers

harmon kardon amplifiers

and a sony projector

The surround is a nice deal. The TV no. It may say SONY on that TV but is is not a SONY. I was a SONY fanatic, big fan. They made the best tube TV's (XBR models where kick ***)  You can pick up a 42 LCD Samsung  (great tv) SHARP Aquos  is a good model but pricey (better than SONY) The best deal is a Vizio, Dell has a 47 lcd for $1499 pay for it with an AMEX and you get an extra 24 months on the warranty. Always buy your electronics with AMEX! they give an extra 24 months in warranty!

i would say the tv is nice, however the home theater system is probably garbage, the system has a dvd player, reciever, and amp shoved into a little box, all the circuitry in the dvd player box creates  a lot of heat, and if it is not vented properly it can cause the dvd player to not work, or the whole system to fail.(this normally happens if the unit is left on for a long period of time). also i would recommend not buying a sony brand audio system. sony makes high end tvs, however  their audio systems are not very good, i would recomment buying seperate components, (dvd player, reciever, subwoffer

and speakers) good brands include, DENON, Yamaha, Pioneer, and if you want high end speakers, look for JBL, YAMAHA, KLIPSCH, BOSE
