Nice places in london?

Hey, can people tell me some nice places to live in london? i havent been before, wondering is;

hammersmith or croydon nice?

Hammersmith is mostly nice and central, but any good property there will be bloody expensive.

There are hundreds of different areas of London, most of the centre is very nice to live in but a lot of money for rent and entertainment, while the suburbs make access a lot harder.

I live around Croydon and while it is S****y in places, it's got a great town centre and good transport to London or the south coast.

Really it depends what you are looking for, how much you can afford, and how far you are prepared to travel to get anywhere.  Can you give more information?

Hammersmith has a nice bridge, easy access to the M4 and not too far from the West End, and Croydon does have some handy industrial units and is not too far from the North Downs.  It also has a good concert hall.  Not places I would choose to live, but then because I drive through them, I only know them as busy roads!

My mother lives in Belsize Park (NW3), my sister in Finchley (N3) and my brother in Camden (NW1).  These are all North London.  Belsize Park is posh and full of celebrities - Hampstead has long been a haven for intellectuals.  Camden has its world-famous street market and is more mixed with some quite lively youth culture.  Finchley has quite a few little Jewish shopkeepers, and lots of pretty dark-eyed girls with curly hair and blokes wearing black hats walking off the Sabbath.

Best thing to do is to buy a Day Rover Ticket and go exploring, and see which corner takes your fancy.

hammersmith is nice but VERY expensive

there are nice parts of croyden but like everywhere in london it has its rough parts, but its nicer than alot of places in london :)
