Hi all!

I'm about to inmigrate with my wife and our 10 month baby boy to South Australia. We are looking for a nice suburb to settle down, in Adelaide or nearby suburb, any help?

How about Mawsom Lakes, North Adelaide, or which suburbs are recommended?

Are there any suburbs where young families are moving in to?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

  1. Brighton, Somerton Park, Glenelg, Seacliff...

All within about 10 minutes of each other along the beach.

Great suburbs to live in if you can afford to buy a decent house. The Esplanade is the road right along the beach. Beachfront houses will go up for a million or more so not many people can afford that obviously! But you can get some great houses in the streets over etc.

All within walking distance. Right near the beach. Close to parks for your child when he is growing up. Lovely community and nice people. Close to supermarkets.. 5 minute drive from the main shopping centre in the area.. Marion Shopping Centre. 15 minutes from the city. Close to trains.. easy to get buses. Glenelg has a main shopping street called Jetty Road which runs down to the beach. A tram runs from there right into the city. Shops run all down the street. Clothing/food etc. Great little restaurants. There is also a Jetty Road at Brighton. There are some pubs right in front of the beach. A great jetty. Cute little restaurants. Lots more friendly Australians. Safe. Always a lot of people around and great to take your children or walk a dog. Definitely recommend the area because it is both beautiful and central.

North Adelaide etc is great too but it depends what you want to be near. I have just grown up in the areas I have mentioned to you and have always been surrounded by the friendliest Australians. Certain places in the city or nearby.. people start getting a bit weirder (im sure you have heard of emos and goths.. lol) and there are also a lot of s****. people around certain areas such as norwood. and it is alot harder to get around.

Sorry i have babbled on a lot but yeah living near the beach I believe you will fit in a lot better and meet some fantastic people. I hope I have helped you a bit!

  2. Mawson lakes is a nice area to live if you don't mind living next to the rail yards and not having broadband internet.

  3. There is a beautiful little town where a friend of mine lives, it's a great neighborhood, and offers a lot of job opportunities; It's called Wagga, Wagga

  4. Mt Barker is a nice fast growing area with lots of new houses - I would recommend it for a young family. As a rough guide the eastern and inner southern suburbs are the most prestigious, also western and inner northern (such as North Adelaide) are very nice too. Far northern and southern suburbs are also growing areas, but tend to be lower income. If you know where you will be working that will help the decision. Good luck.
