Which is the nicest and safest island in the Caribbean that has French as the official language and would make a good place to retire to???

What about Spanish speaking as well?

  1. St Martin would be a very nice island to retire to. It shares the island with St Maarten (the dutch side).

    Dominican Republic shares an island with Haiti. Dominican Republic is Spanish and Haiti is French.

  3. Besides Haiti all of the other Caribbean nations that speak French as their Official language are still overseas parts of France.

    The French Isles....

    Saint Martin, Saint Barts, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and French Guiana.  All are still a part of France.

    There is widespread French Patois spoken in the Commonwealth of Dominica, and Saint Lucia though.
