Question:

Nicest village to live in the Midlands??

I've got to move back to the Midlands (for work commitments) after living on a beautiful 300 acre farm in Cornwall for 3 years.

Any ideas of a nice village/area?

Its got to be rural and quiet. I'm really not looking forward to hunting for somewhere that gives me some land and seclusion around me and a nice place to live. Any help as to where to start would be much appreciated.

  1. Well egdbaston is really leafy, very beautiful and very convinent for getting into town/ massive tescos just down the road etc however because it's close to the university you may get more students then you like living around you.

Thats all I can suggest at the moment - sorry!

  2. lichfield is a nice place to live. you have the benefits of a town and also a countryside. quite small, socialble and also close to birmingham.

  3. any village around the towcester northants area is very nice

  5. I also moved from the Midlands to Cornwall. I love it in Cornwall, but if ever I had to move back to the Midlands, I would probably choose a rural village around the Worcestershire, or Wawickshire countryside. Hanbury, Kempsey, Tenbury Wells, Alcester, Wyre-piddle, Studley, to name a few. Try googling around the Worcesteshire area, and dragging to show small villages.

For all people knock the Midlands, it boasts some of the most pretty countryside, and riverside villages, and I doubt you will have too much trouble finding the perfect rural spot. Good luck!!!

  6. Provided you have your own transport, I'd recommend Arley, with a station on the Severn Valley Railway with connections by steam train, South to Bewdley, Kidderminster and North to Highley and the terminus at Bridgnorth. Totally gorgeous woodland scenery with the nearby River Severn and so peaceful; just the sound of birds and sheep.

  7. It depends where in the midlands you need to be near for work . There are some very nice villages in South Leicestershire, around the Lutterworth, Market Harborough area. It's also got great road links to the M1 at junction 20, A14 and the M6 at junction1. I would guess property prices are slightly cheaper here than Cornwall too.

  8. There are loads of villages around here that are nice - depends what you want as some have better facilities than others (bus service, corner shop etc..)

Some nice villages I know around here - Stoke Golding and Dadlington near Hinckley (junior school, bus, shop, pubs) or any other villages around that area are all quiet, pleasant places to live, fenny drayton, upton, shenton, sutton cheney, market bosworth.
