Nichaon Jindapon claims Women’s Singles title at Vietnam International Challenge 2012
Thailand’s Nichaon Jindapon stole the limelight as she clinched Women’s Singles title after beating Japan’s Ayumi Mine in the final match of Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge 2012 on Sunday, April 1, in Vietnam.
The in-form Jindapon, who was fifth seeded shuttler in Women’s Singles draw of the championship, played tremendous badminton throughout the tournament and grabbed her first title in the current year.
However, Jindapon had to work really hard against the lower ranked Japanese shuttler and she managed to win the fight in three games by taking 70 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, despite putting up strong resistance Ayumi remained unlucky in the final set and lost the contest with a tight margin on the score board.
In the first set, Ayumi played to her full potential and remained in complete control. She did not show any respect to her higher ranked Thai opponent and was playing flawless badminton.
Until the end of opening half, the Japanese shuttler was in strong position on the board.
After the break, Jindapon tried to play better game but she could not dominate the pace of rallies as her lower ranked Japanese challenger was everywhere in the court.
The fifth seeded Thai failed to stop the aggressive play of her opponent and lost the opening game with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Jindapon played attacking badminton and took over the charge from her Japanese rival. She was in wonderful control and also played with precision. Until the break, Jindapon was far ahead of her opponent.
After the one-minute break, Jindapon continued playing aggressive badminton and won the set with a one-sided 21-11 score on the board.
In the final set, both ladies remained positive and controlled the pace of rallies in the opening half. They remained close and could not manage to set up a comfortable gap.
After the break, they kept their speed at maximum level and reached at the ending phase while remaining close on score board.
However, Jindapon showed her impressive craft at this stage and won the set with a tight score of 21-19.
Jindapon won the title match in 70 minutes with a 17-21, 21-11 and 21-19 on the board.
