Niche modeling for Homo heidelbergensis?

Does anyone here know anything about eco-cultural niche modeling? Has anyone used it to predict probable subsistence patterns for H. heidelbergensis? Is this a feasible project?

Is there a lot of archaeological evidence on H. heidelbergensis or is it relatively under-studied? Would it be better to choose another subspecies of early human?

This is for a non-scientific project I'm working on - any answers would be appreciated.

I would expect that it could be done for heidelbergensis.  It would certainly be easier for Neanderthals and CroMagnon.   Erectus is another possible candidate.
