Nick Arison becomes the CEO of Miami Heat: NBA Update
On Friday, Miami Heat’s owner Micky Arison named his son Nick Arison as the franchise’s Chief Executive Officer. Nick Arison was previously serving as the vice president.
A formal announcement was made in this regard today. Micky is confident that his son, who has been associated with the franchise for 15 years, is prepared for the job and will carry on the responsibilities effectively.
“This is something Nick has been working towards his whole life. He’s more prepared for this job than I was at his age when I became CEO of Carnival. I have the utmost confidence that Nick will continue to lead the HEAT as a model
NBA franchise for many years to come.” Micky said.
Over the years, Nick has worked for Miami Heat in a variety of positions which has helped him to learn the business thoroughly. He joined the organization as a team attendant and then moved on to complete the summer internships
in almost all of the departments including Sales and Marketing, Arena Operations and Community Affairs.
After graduating in 2003 from the Duke University, where he was a student manager under the legendary Mike Krzyzewski aka Coach K, Nick became a full time staff member in Heat. He spent sometime in the accounts department and premium
partnerships and was then appointed as the Director Corporate and Premium. His responsibilities in that department included overseeing the Account Management operations.
Nick’s most recent post of vice President was assigned to him back in 2008, before the start of the regular season. Arison worked with the Miami Heat’s President Pat Riley and Assistant General Manager Andy Elisburg in basketball
operations and both the seniors helped the young man to develop the skills and the insight quickly.
The 66 year old Riley, who has worked for 16 years with the Arison family, congratulated Nick on getting promoted as the CEO of the franchise and stated that the young man carries talent to sever the team on the big platform.
“Like his grandfather Ted and father Micky, Nick is an extraordinary, special young man and will serve the HEAT in a highly professional manner as those men did. Congratulations to Nick. He has earned it.” Riley said.
Pat will continue to make basketball decisions, while Nick will look after the daily operations and report directly to Micky in his new role as the CEO of the organization.
