Nick Compton: I will go to India full of confidence – Cricket News Update
Uncapped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 batsman Nick Compton, who was on Tuesday included in England’s Test squad for tour of India, is well aware of the challenge of playing on spin-friendly subcontinent pitches. However, he said that he will go to India full
of confidence and vowed to continue playing his natural game.
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selectors yesterday named their 16-member touring party for the India Test series in November. Compton and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Lumb-c1981 Root are the only two uncapped players in the touring party, which will
be without likes of out-of-favour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373.
English batsmen have notoriously struggled in the spin-friendly subcontinent conditions and Ahmedabad, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, Kolkata and Nagpur – venues for the India-England Test series – are all famous for their spin-friendly tracks.
"The challenge of batting in India is one that has proved notoriously difficult for English players in the past; the spin-friendly conditions are in stark contrast to what is experienced on these shores," Compton told the official website
of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 cricket board, ecb.co.uk.
"I will go to India full of confidence. The nature of my success this year has been built on taking each ball and each game at a time and I will stay true to that. I won't be doing anything differently in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750," he added further.
Nick, who missed a part of the 2012 season due to back spasms, topped the scoring charts in the LV = County Championship Division One this season, compiling 1191 runs in 11 matches, at a startling average of 99.25. He was rewarded for
his impressive run in the recently concluded county season with a national call-up. Compton said that earning a Test call had been his lifelong ambition.
“Getting a call-up to the squad is a great start but I want to set my sights on contributing and being an asset to Alastair Cook's Test team," said Compton.
England are scheduled to play India four Tests and two T20 Internationals in the initial leg of the tour, before returning home for the Christmas. After the Christmas break, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 and men will go back to the subcontinent to play
five One Day Internationals against the world champions. The limited-overs squads are expected to be named during the Test series, which gets underway in Ahmedabad, on November 15.
