Nick Compton jubilant after earning national call-up – Cricket News Update

Compton, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 later this year. The 29-year-old lanky batsman said that it was hard to describe his emotions after receiving his first international call-up for the winter tour of subcontinent.
“It's hard to describe. It is really overwhelming but I am over the moon,” Compton, the grandson of former England batsman Denis, told the official website of England and Wales Cricket Board, ecb.co.uk.
“It's something I have worked towards for a long time. I'm happy for my family and everyone that has contributed to my success," the Natal-born right-handed batsman added further.
Compton earned the Test call on the basis of an impressive county season. Despite missing a part of the 2012 season due to back injury, the hard-hitting top-order batsman leading run scorer of the County Championship Division with a tally of 1191 runs in 11 matches, at an impressive average of 99.25. The tally also included four tons and seven half tons.
The right-hander was rewarded for his impressive run over the past five months with a national call-up. Compton said that earning a call from the ECB selectors has been his lifelong ambition and vowed to continue with his good form at the international level as well.
"It has been a lifelong ambition to be a top Test match batsman. Getting a call-up to the squad is a great start but I want to set my sights on contributing and being an asset to Alastair Cook's Test team," said Compton.
To date, Compton has played 96 First-class matches, scoring 6254 runs at an average of 44.35, including 16 centuries and 27 half centuries.
