Nick Craig hails James Peters as he clinches the 2011 Endeavours Trophy at Rover Roach: Sailing news
Nick Craig and Toby Lewis representing OK class made it to the top mark on the final day of 2011 Endeavours Trophy hosted by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club on River Roach waters. They had a tussling encounter with RS200 class representatives, James Peters
and Alan Roberts during the races on final day but managed to hit the number one spot in the end.
Wind conditions were strong on the final day on River Roach waters. The breeze gusted from 14 to 16 knots, as the fleet set sail. James Peters and Alan Roberts kept Craig and Lewis on their toes during the races and gave them a tough time. Craig appreciated
Peters for his excellent sailing strategies and the performance their team showed in the tournament.
While speaking to local media at the conclusion of the event, Craig said, “James is a great lad, great sailor, and I am sure he’ll be back for more in the future. Today the two of them were extremely impressive. To be honest we were torn as to know what
to do.”
He further added, “We’d like to have just sailed the race but we decided that it was a bit risky not to match race because anything could have happened out there. It was shifty, and tidal, and if we mucked up and got behind, it would have been very difficult
to get back in contention again.”
