Nick Cullen wants to record a back-to-back OneAsia Tours’ win, at the Volvo China Open
Nick Cullen is back in action, has high aims at the OneAsia Tour event, and will be teeing off the Volvo China Open on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
The 28-year-old Australian professional golf player is in the field of the co-sanctioned event of the OneAsia Tour and the European Tour.
In March 2012, he successfully recorded his first professional win at the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open. He scored 9-under 279 and displayed an amazing performance throughout the tournament.
He defeated the New Zealander David Smail with a one-stroke margin and became the proud debut winner of the OneAsia Tour staged event. After winning the title, he reached on top of the merit list.
He is currently playing on the PGA Tour of Australasia. However, he also desires to impress the spectators, by winning another OneAsia Tours’ tournament in China.
If Cullen wins, he will become the second player to claim back-to-back titles. In the past, this honour was achieved by Greg Chalmers only.
Chalmers performed well in the last year. He won the titles of the 2011 Emirates Australian Open and the 2011 Australian PGA Championship, presented by Coca-cola, and became the first back-to-back winner on the OneAsia Tour.
Hence, now in 2012, Cullen aims high to become the second player, by winning the Volvo China Open, at the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
"It's a quality field and I am excited to be here," Cullen said in a press release from the OneAsia tour. "Being able to play at this level is what it is all about. Obviously I am not thinking about winning but I am playing well and will give it a good go".
He added, "I was tied 10th going into the last round of the Australian Open last year and learned a lot from that experience plus I have been giving myself chances over the last six months".
The left-handed Cullen will face the defending champion, Nicolas Colsaerts, along with top leading players like Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and Peter Hanson.
Hence, the field is not so easy to record a back-to-back victory. He has to deliver his best and also put in extra efforts on the course to win the $3 million purse event.
