Nick Diaz quits MMA due to a controversial defeat against Carlos Condit – UFC news
Nick Diaz has quit MMA due to the controversial defeat against Carlos Condit at the UFC 143’s main event on Saturday night, in Las Vegas.
Diaz reportedly has quit MMA since he believes the decision was unjust.
Nick Diaz, who looked frustrated after losing to Condit even though he gave his utmost performance in the ring, said, “I think I'm done with MMA. I don't need this s---. He ran this whole fight and I landed the harder shots. He just kicked my leg a bit.
I don't want to play this game anymore.”
The classic bout saw Diaz as the more aggressive fellow while Condit spent most of his time defending, yet it was Condit who won.
The first two rounds were pretty close and no fighter stood tall, while in the third and fourth rounds it was Condit who took the lead. Diaz stroke back in the fifth round with a rear-naked choke attempt but luckily Condit managed to escape.
While Diaz was looking for the upper body of Condit to attack, the latter focused more on his opponent’s lower body. Overall, Condit’s footwork and strikes were considered more damaging than those of Diaz, even though the latter gave some powerful and damaging
shots.
Condit won through a unanimous decision with the scores being 48-47, 49-46 and 49-46. As the scorecards revealed, the fight was close enough but Condit got the edge over Diaz, which irked the latter.
After the fight, Condit shared his views regarding the fight, saying, “He was talking, I was landing punches. I think I was winning. So no matter how much he talked, I was hitting him hard, I was hitting him solid. From the very beginning I broke that leg
down. I chopped his leg, chopped his leg, and chopped his leg - so even if he had the cardio, he didn't have the wheels. That's what I worked to do.”
With all the controversy surrounding the decision, Diaz has finally decided to step down or maybe he is running away from the fact that Condit has beaten him.
